Titles are a first impression. They are the first thing a reader experiences, they set the tone for the entire work, they inform and entertain and intrigue. They are important.
Every piece of writing you submit in hard copy form for the rest of the year (for the rest of your life!) needs a title.
In general, I think effective titles should be both INFORMATIVE and INTERESTING.
Informative: the title relates to the content of the work
Interesting: the title captures my attention and makes me want to keep reading the work
Titles SHOULD NOT be boring, random, a summary of the work, or too long (a sentence is too long).
They SHOULD be creative, thoughtful, concise, and well-worded.
For your response tonight, I want you to do two things:
1.) List your favorite three titles of all time. They can be titles of book, an essay, a song, a newspaper article, or a website or blog. Next to each title, state in a thoughtful, well-developed way why you think this title is so great.
2.) Think of a title for our class blog. "I Hate This Title" needs to go--and soon! I pick my top ten favorites and post a survey so you can vote on the winner. Winner gets a prize!
Have fun with this!
My favorite title is "Ender's Game." The reason I like this title so much is because in this book, Ender spends most of his time playing a simulator game for a war. While playing this game, Ender does not realize that his teachers are playing a game with him. The teachers are manipulating Ender throughout the whole book. My second favorite title is "God is not Great." This is a nonfiction book that explains how many conflicts religion has caused in the human race. I like this title because it states the phrase so simply and bluntly. This title allows people to know exactly what it is that book in few words.
ReplyDeleteI also like the title "Sold." This title is interesting because I only realized what it meant later in the book. It was only when Lakshmi was at the house did I realize what the title meant. Another reason is that it summarizes the whole entire book in one simple word.
The title for your blog should be...
boןq ɹoʇɐuɐɥɐb ǝɥʇ
My favorite title is of the book A Long Way Gone since it captures the emotions of a boy who has lost everything he ever owned, then becoming a child soldier shortly afterwards. My second favorite title is Where Men Win Glory, since it captures your attention, and when you read the book, you learn that Pat Tillman wasn't out to win glory like the title suggests. Last but not least, my third favorite title is from one of my summer reading books, One Second After. The title really fits well with the apocalyptic theme of the book, since it isn't about what caused the apocalypse of the U.S, just what happened afterwards. As for the title of this blog, I think we should have something more simple, like Team Gahan Blogsite.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite titles would have to be Friday Night Lights, because not only are there lights on the field, but if you read it then you find out that the citizens of Odessa are watching, and people like scouts for colleges and even the other teams checking out the competition. The Great Gatsby is also a great title because, the book is about him, and it gives him a since of mystery, and power that can really intrigue the reader. And lastly one of my favorite TV shows is Lost, and I think that that's a great title because it also gets that mystery like, how did they get lost, where are they, how are they going to get back. For the title I think something punny is good like gahan with a plan or something
ReplyDeleteMy favorite title to one of my favorite books is called "My Losing Season" by Pat Conroy. I liked the title of this books because even though Conroy did not have a successful season in basketball, he had a successful season in life. All of his life started to come together at the end of the book, he learned what he wanted to be and met a girl. Another one of my favorite titles is "The Da Vinci Code" by Dan Brown, I liked this title because Da Vinci had a huge role in the book and his artwork saved the secret of the Holy Grail. My last favorite title is Through My Eyes by Tim Tebow because Tebow gives you a view of what his life was like when he was a child, and how we worked really hard to get where he is now; its a very inspiring story. I think the title should be Team Gahan for our blog site.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite title I have yet to come across would have to be from the movie John Tucker Must Die. I love this movie, it's funny and has an awesome cast but what really drove me into seeing this movie had to be the title! It's intriguing and gives it a sense of curiosity as to why this John Tucker character "must die". Another one of my favorite titles comes from a Kid Cudi song called Don't Play This Song, featuring Mary J. Blige. While I've never actually listened to the song for the full four minutes I know it's on my iTunes library and whenever it comes on I debate to myself wether I actually should or not! But again, the title is great and it really captures your attention and just makes you ask yourself "why?". My last and final favorite title is a popular song by Taylor Swift called Back to December, off her last album Speak Now. I love this title because within it you can just tell there's a message behind it, and as you listen you find out what it is! Titles with a story behind it are great. I think the title for this page should be Gahan creating mayhem; one book at a time.
ReplyDeleteThere are many titles that I love, but the first one that popped into my mind is "Midnight's Children" by Salman Rushdie. I think it would be wonderful as our title, because the book actually talks about all the people born in the stroke of midnight, the moment India became independent. Although he had many difficulties in life, he was special, not only because of the power he received, but also because the troubles he had in life, it made him a stronger person. The second title that I like is "The Tale Of Two Cities" by Charles Dickens because I really liked the plot of it, and the different lives people lived in these two cities (London and Paris)and the interesting way of how people think. Finally my third favorite title is actually the name of a song...it is called "Children's Dreams." It's not really a song, but it's beautiful music, and sometimes helps me calm down in times of stress.
ReplyDeleteThe title should be "Children's Dreams."
DeleteMy favorite title to one of my favorite books is "Speak". I think that this would be a great title because in the book it is sending out a message that you shouldn't be afraid to speak up for yourself, and tell how you're feeling. The second title that I like is "Pursuit of Happiness" by Kid Cudi. I like this because the message it sends is that you should do what makes you happy, and it isn't always easy to achieve your happiness. The last title that I like is "Paradise" by Coldplay. This song has great lyrics, and it always seems to calm me down because of the music in it. It's a great song! I think the name for this page should be "The Gahan Clan".
ReplyDeleteMy favorite title is "Live Your Life" by T.I. because it has a good ring to it and is also saying that you should just life your life the way you want to and not the way other people want you to. I also like "Space Jam" mainly because I used to watch that movie all the time as a kid and would say it over and over again. I love "The Lord of the Rings" too because it just has a great feel to it and sounds really vague and adventurous. I think the name for this blog should probably be "Gahan For President 2016"
ReplyDeleteMy favorite title is probably "Who Needs Hands" by Danna Richards, because the song says "Who needs hands when you're holdin' my heart?", which I think is really deep, but still a really catchy song. I also love the title "Phantom Hourglass", of the Zelda game, which while refering to an actual phantom hourglass, is a phrase just asking to become a metaphor for something. Thirdly, "The Book Thief", because like the other two, its literal but also something deeper.
ReplyDeleteThe name for this blog should be Gahan Groupies
It is difficult to choose three favorite titles, but one of them is definitely from the book, "A Hope in the Unseen," by Ron Suskind. This is such a good title because it already gets you dreaming about the impossible, and then you automatically want to read the book. I also like "The Big Miss" by Hank Haney. Although I do not agree with the message of the book whatsoever, I love the title because it references a golf shot that bears the same name. Laslty, the movie "Gladiator" is one of the best titles. It's funny how one word sounds so much better than two or three, and the word gladiator is just one of those words that is fun to say. The name for this page should definitely be "Gahan's Goons."
ReplyDeleteI know it's awful, but I can never seem to stop myself from picking a book by the cover or the title! Therefore I like most of the titles of books that I read and movies that I watch so its hard to narrow it down.
ReplyDeleteRecently I read American Wife, and I really liked the title because it's a novel about a woman who becomes the first lady and I thought it was interesting that the author perceived her as being married to America rather than the president.
I really like to read blogs that are written by "preppy" people, and one of my favorite ones lately has been "Prep In Your Step". I really commend the author (who happens to be a high schooler) for her extremely witty title! I think it's so creative how she took the saying "pep in your step" and changing it to "prep". Also, her title really works well because she runs cross country, so she meshes all her favorite things together.
Lastly, my favorite title would have to be Viva La Vida by Coldplay, because the title isn't written in English so it has a sort of "hidden meaning". I like that it isn't just a word that is repeated throughout the song like most song titles are. Viva La Vida means Live Life, and I think the lyrics show that even though you might have it all one day it can easily all fall from underneath you so you have to live your life the way you want to and not the way someone is telling you to!
I think that the title of this blog should be "The Wonderful World of Lit"
One of my favorite book titles happens to be that of one of my selections for summer reading. "The Devil in the White City" is very interesting to me because, not only does it describe the antagonist, Dr. H. H. Holmes perfectly, but it also fits the plot of the story exactly: A murderer in the greatest World's Fair in history nicknamed "The White City." This title adds suspense to the story from the beginning, and it is what made me choose the book in the first place.
ReplyDeleteAnother of my favorite titles is "Jaws." For some reason, this title catches me. I suppose that it is because of its simplicity and that it tells the entire story in one word. It is truly the pinnacle of concise writing.
I think that this blog's title should be "Call us The Gahanators!"

ReplyDeleteI have a lot of favorite titles but if I had to narrow it down to three they would be " Let it Fly" by Maino because it just makes me feel I can let any mistake go and feel light again with no worries. My second favorite is " The Cat in the Hat" because I think its very original and also it shows that theres a world of possibilities that can occur from such small things such the a cat coming out of a hat! My third favorite title is "Unstoppable" by Kat Deluna because it tells me that I can persevere and do what ever I want and no one can stop from achieving my goal. Finally a good title for this blog is a title which I absolutely LOVE which is "Hakuna Matata". I love this title so much because every time any of us open up this blog, we will see those two words and realize that none of us have nothing to worry about at all, and just be happy in whatever we are doing.
ReplyDelete"Elsewhere" by Gabrielle Zevin, is one of my favorite books and titles. The title is mysterious. The book is an original and not many people know about it. The main character is on a cruise ship to "elsewhere", but is technically heaven, she can look back on earth and see the people involved in her death, and what they are doing now and speak to them through drains or faucets.
ReplyDeleteI also like "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" by John Boyne, it is a powerful book. I like the title, but I think that if a little kid were to see the title they would think it is a fun kids book, and it might not make a whole lot of sense for them.
I am actually obsessed with the book "Looking for Alaska" by John Green, it is mysterious. I did not know that Alaska was a person until I started the book, I thought that was pretty nifty. I also like how the book was structured. It is very different and makes the book just that much better.
the title of this blog should be "We're getting wordy in world lit"
My favorite title is probably of a book I read in 9th grade called "Unbroken" it is beautiful because it is so simple, yet it portrays such a powerful message about a mans will in a POW camp. My second favoirite would probably be "All Quiet on the Western Front" a summer reading book I read that described the battles during WWI from a soldiers perspective, in the end though it showed the ery stillness after battle simply by restating the title. My third and final favorite title has got to be "Braveheart" because of they way it describes they character of William Wallace so well and it always makes me think of the iconic last seen were he screams freedom to the crowd of the english. The title of this blog should be "The Soggy Blog"
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite titles is "City of Bones" because when I picked this book up, I had really wanted to know why it was called the city of bones. The title made me think that the book would have a lot of action in it, and it did, so it was a good title. Another one of my favorite titles is from a song by Taylor Swift and it's called "We are never ever geting back together" because I knew there was a story behind this, because Taylor Swift always has stories behind her songs, and so that made me want to hear it. My third favorite would be "Set fire to the rain" by Adele because when I first heard the title I was like what is this song supposed to be about, and that made me what to listen to it, so it was a good title. I think the title of this blog should be "Staying with Gahan" because at the we will be with Mrs. Gahan the rest of this year, so I thought of Staying with Gahan.
ReplyDeleteor the soggy bottom blog
ReplyDeleteMy favorite types of titles for songs that seem to have little/no relevance to the song's lyrics, but gives out the emotion well. One of my favorite titles is for a song sung by VOCALOID 3's IA (aka Aria of the Planetes) called "A Tale of Six Trillion Years and A Night". The fast song is the story of "a long forgotten fairytale" of a boy persecuted by everyone for being born in "the devil's body", and feels like there is no reason to live until he meets a girl just like him, and together they "disappear off into the sunset". The meaning behind that last line is currently unknown, wether they both commit suicide together of they run away together. The reason I like the title is because it hints that the song's content is going to be different from many other songs we hear. And it was. Not to mention it sounds beautiful, despite the fact it's a tad bit long... My other favorite title is from a book called "Pavane for a Dead Girl". The story is of an 18-year-old male violinist who was bestowed the gifts of "universal allure" and "musical genius", but must kill 12 girls who fall in love with him in order to fullfil his contract with the Great Angel who gave him those two gifts. The title itself is alluring, and it feels nice in your mouth. Not only that, the reflects the content of the book perfectly. Finally, one of my favorite songs is "Country From Where the Sun Rises". This title is actually a historical reference to when the Japanese went an introduced themselves to the Chinese, and the 'ambassadors' said to the Chinese emperor "It's a pleasure to meet you China, from where the sun sets. We're from Japan, where the sun rises" (or somewhere along those lines). Well, things didn't go so well for those two ambassadors... The song is Japanese, and is about the culture. The title is beautiful and mysterious, and it fits with the tune of the song, which also happens to be beautiful and mysterious. One of my favorites!
ReplyDeleteI am not good with these type of titles, but maybe something like " 'Ze Awesome Gahan" or " 'Ze Great Gahan"? Please do not ask where the 'ze' part came from, it's complicated.

DeleteMy favorite book titles, in order, are
ReplyDelete#1: Nostradamus Ate My Hamster by Robert Rankin, because who wouldn't like that title.
#2: The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, because Da Vinci plays a big role in the book, and it is reflected in the title.
#3: The Foot Book by Dr. Seuss, because it is a simple and funny title.
I think the title of this blog should be "unextolled xanthomonad".
I have a lot of favorite titles. One of my favorite titles is the book by Carolyn Mackler "The Earth my Butt and Other Big Round Things". This title was so funny that I knew I had to read the book. Catchy and humorous titles are the titles that I enjoy the most because they are the ones that stick with me. I will not forget reading a book called "The Earth my Butt and Other Big Round Things". Other titles that I like are ones that make you think. The song "Listen" by Beyonce is one of my favortie songs because it has a powerful message. It is one of my favorite titles because it says a lot about the song in just one word. Another favorite title of mine is "The man who can't be moved" by The Script. This songs is one of those songs that has a perfect title to match it. This title makes the song sound like a book which i think is unqiue. I think the blog title should be Fans of the Gahan.
ReplyDeleteMy first favorite title would have to And then there were none because it is such a bland title but at the same it is intriguing. The reason its intriguing is because the other is so fell known for her books that I determined there was some significant value to the title. My second favorite title is Mr. Deeds because even though it may seem odd at first I did not get the fact that the reason his last name was Deeds was because he always did good deeds for people. The third of my favorite titles would be The Big Bang Theory because it fits the atmosphere of the show, and the character in the show. The title for this blog should be “15 Thoughts for Gahan” The fifteen is significant because it is the year we graduate and without an English class we can’t graduate.
ReplyDeleteIt would take me a while to actually pick my three favorite titles but three that I like are: Diary of a Wimpy Kid because it is kind of funny and tells exactly what the story is going to be. Untitled by Eminem because there is no such thing as an absolutely perfect title. Lastly Home Alone because it has a nice ring to it, and it was one of my favorite movies growing up. I think the title of this blog should be " BTB Bout That Blog"
ReplyDeleteI think that titles are important because they basically intrigue you to listen/read/watch that song/book/movie. My first favorite title of all time is A Long Way Gone. The book is about a child soldier in Africa. I really like this title because when you look at the title before you actually read it it's like "well, what is he a long way gone from?" I like titles that leave you hanging and that pull you into whatever it is that you are about to read. Another favorite title of mine is "Ms Jackson" by OutKast. I love this song because it's so catchy and it tells a story about a man, his son, his baby momma, and her mother. I think the song is incredibly sincere; "I'm sorry Ms. Jackson, oooh I am foreal." My third favorite title is "Clarity" by Mac Miller. The song has a good vibe and the song title is so simple, which is why it is so good. I think the title of this blog should be "We Are Gahangsters"
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite titles is "The General in his Labyrinth" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez because it immediately catches the eye. When I see the world "labyrinth" my mind jumps to the story of the Minotaur and the labyrinth and immediately gives a book about a real person, Simon Bolivar, a mystical feeling. The best titles make you ask a million questions. What they mean to you changes after you read them. In this case, the "labyrinth" was a labyrinth of suffering. Another one of my favorite titles is the song "The Hand of Sorrow" by Within Temptation. This is one of the title's whose meaning changes after you've listened to the song. This "hand" is actually a person who has to make a very difficult decision. And lastly, I would have to choose "To Kill A Mockingbird" by Harper Lee, which is one of my favorite books. Taken in a literal sense, the title doesn't make any sense, especially if you have no idea what the book is about. But metaphorically, it's a perfect match for the events that take place in the book, since killing a creature as innocent as a mockingbird is evil. I think the title of this blog should be "Insert Catchy Title Here."
ReplyDeleteI like the title "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee. I like it because before you read the book it has no meaning at all. But, once you read alittle ways in you will meet thecharators Tom Robinson and Boo Radley who are the "mockingbirds" that never harm anyone, but are punished and one of them killed anyway. The next one woul have to be "Long live" by Taylor Swift. I just like how its a fill in the blank title, I like that for example in this case it can be long live anything. I really like how positive this song is aswell. and for the third one I would have to say it is Katy Perry's "The One That Got Away" I like this one because there is so many things that you love but loose sight of in the moment and look when you back on and are gone.
ReplyDeleteas of the name for theblog I think The Gahan Clan
My favorite title of all time is To Kill a Mockingbird. I like this title because I interpreted it as someone taking advantage of something’s or someone’s innocence and vulnerability, and that is what the book is really about. I also like The Hunger Games because when I read it, it intrigued me. I associate “games” with fun and “hunger” with sadness, need, and emptiness. When put together, it implies something sinister. The other title that I liked is Breaking Dawn because it suggests an awakening and a new day; “breaking” suggests transformation and change. In the book, the main character, Bella, is asleep for parts of the book. When she awakes, she has been transformed. She is a completely new person. I think the title of our blog should be “Gahan’s Jagaloons”
ReplyDeleteA title that I really like is "Wicked" from the Broadway musical. I think that even though it's only one word, it has a nice ring to it and it tells a lot about the story without giving anything away. Another title I like is from the movie "Up." It's short and sweet, and again, tells a lot about the movie without telling too much. My last title is "Once Upon a Time" from the TV show. The show is about fairy tale characters stuck in reality, and since "Once upon a time..." is the cliche fairy tale line, it fits well, and I think it's really clever. I think the title of the blog should be Gahan's Gang.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book title is The Book Thief but Markus Zusak. I like this book title because while you are reading the book you are waiting for the narrator to mention who the book thief is and how they get that name. I also like the title of the song Blame it on the Rain by He is We because with most songs I just listen to the song, but with this title I actually tried to listen to the words and hear what they mean. Then finally liked the title Twilight by Stephanie Meyer because it suggests that the evening is near but not quite, and we all know what happens what happens when it is night in Twilight, the vamps come out. But, to the reader it says that something will happen after the day more than just going to bed. I think that the title should be The Gahan Times.
ReplyDeleteTitles are a main reason why I chose a book so I usually go for shorter more precise titles. One title I really love is from the book “The Lovely Bones” by Alice Sebold. The book is relatively sad, gory and depressing. I think that the title really has that extra wow factor that makes you cringe a little, especially with the cover design of the main character’s bracelet that was found after she was murdered. Another title I like is “Divergent” by Veronica Roth. I really like one word titles and to me “Divergent” just seems like a very strong, forceful, and powerful word. A final title that I like would be the song “On Top of the World.” The song is very positive and catchy so I think that the title describes the feeling of being in control of everything and “On Top of the World.” A possible title for the blog could be The Gargantuous Gahan Greats or maybe Hooked on Books.
ReplyDeleteMy first favorite title is "The Help", by Kathryn Stockett. I like this title because I think it is very catchy and it really made me want to learn who 'the help' is. I liked that it was short and concise. My second favorite title is "Looking for Alaska" because it connects to the story and overall plot throughout the whole novel. I liked that when I was reading the book I was actually reading about 'looking for Alaska'. My third favorite title is "Gone" because it is very intriguing and I really wanted to know who was 'gone'. I like the power and force behind the title even though it is only one word.
ReplyDeleteI don't really have a knack for coming up with catchy titles, but possibly "Getting fit for world lit"?

ReplyDeleteMy favorite types of titles are the mysterious ones that don't give you too much information on the book. My favorite title of all time is "Oh the Places You'll Go" by Dr. Seuss. I know that this book was created for young children, but the meaning behind this novel and title is really meaningful and inspiring. I especially love that the title is both catchy and motivating. Another one of my all time favorite titles would have to be "The Devil Wears Prada" by Lauren Weisberger. I think this title is just perfection. It gives you a small glimpse of a specific character in the novel, but lures you in with questions about who might the "devil" be, and why she wears prada. My third favorite title is "The Art of Racing in the Rain" by Garth Stein. I think that these words flow beautifully together, and sounds almost like a song or poem when its read.
ReplyDeleteI think that our blog title should be something like "Lovin Lit
Titles are why people read. One of my favorite titles is that of Coldplays album, "Mylo Xyloto." Although it is very odd, it is catchy and grabs my attention. After doing some research, it actually is pretty meaningful. It is thought to capture the album theme in that the world is strange. It is also supposed to mean that fingers come through fingers and toes. Get it, Xylo Toe. "Finding Nemo" is also a great title. It gets people interested in wanting to "find" Nemo. My favorite all time title is the title "First Minute, First Round" from the historic photo of Muhammed Ali's knockout punch against Sonny Liston. Although it is kind of a dull title, it captures the moment with perfection. A possible title for the class blog is "Gahan's Goonies."
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite titles is "Played" because it fits the book. The entire book is about a high school boy taking a bet to play another girl from the same high school. It's also one of my favorite books that not many people have read.
ReplyDeleteAnother title I like is "ttyl" because the book is all in text lingo. Its about for girls having a conversation that last over several days, and they are talking about everything. Sometimes the girls aren't friends, sometimes they're gossiping, and even their names in the book is a user name. My final title is "The Five People You Meet in Heaven" because I read it this summer and I really enjoyed it. Its about an old guy who dies saving a little girl on a roller coaster ride. Then he dies and goes to heaven, and there he meets five people from important past places in his previous life.
One of my favorite titles is from the book, "The Glass Castle" because the title makes you picture something so grand magical when in reality the book is mainly about misfortunes and continuous things that go wrong all the time. My second favorite title is from the song "youth" by daughter i absolutely love this song its one that never semms to get old and I always ahve it on repeat. The song brings you make and lets you reminiss on happy memories for the most part. My third favorite title is from the book, "Girl, interrupted". I loved this book and the title completly sets the book in motion it was perfectly titled and really related the stories plot well, and the name i chose for our class blog I think should be " The Misfits"
ReplyDeleteooh I LOVE "The Glass Castle," Amy!
DeleteTitles are a thing that I live by. One of my favorite title would have to be the name of my favorite sports teams...the "Toronto Maple Leafs". It is because it always reminds me of Canada and of sports. Another title that I love would have to be "The Louisville Collegiate School". This is the name of the school I attend to and that is important to me because that is where I get my education, it is a place where all of my friends are, and it is a good memory to have when I am looking back on my past 30 years from now. My last favorite title would have to be "Don Cherry" because those are the hockey movies that this hilarious guy makes. They are so well put together and they are all about hockey, what is not to like? A title for this blog would be "The Gahan Greats".
ReplyDeleteFor me, titles give you a hint about what the book, song, play, etctetera, is about. My favorite titles are "The Smartest Guys in the Room" by Bethany McLean, "And Then Things Fall Apart" by Arlaina Tibensky, and "From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler" by E. L. Konigsburg. I love the title "From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler" because looking at that for the first time, you have no idea what is going on and it is really interesting because it just seems so random, but by the end of the book everything makes sense and you realize the files are an important part of the ending. I really like "And Then Things Fall Apart", because you can kind of tell that the book is going to be sad, but you want to know what fell apart and why; that is what drew me into this book. "The Smartest Guys in the Room" is a sassy title, and I really like it because it talks about how this company failed because these five guys thought they were smarter than everybody else and so they could out-smart everyone, but it turned out that they were extremely wrong. Sassy titles get my attention.
ReplyDeleteMy idea for the title of the blog: The Gahaninator, or Lickety Slip, World Lit
A title that I really like is "Speak" by Laurie Halse ANderson. I like this title because it can be perceived in many ways and mean a lot of different things. It is very vague and the meaning is open to your interpretation. Another title I like is "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak. I like this title because it flows really well and the words sound nice together. Also it fits the book very well. Another title I like is "The Devil Wears Prada" by Lauren Weisberger. I like this title because its very unique and creative. It sounds suspicious to me which sort of drew me into the book.
ReplyDelete'
I think our title should be "gahans gabshow"
My favorite title is“Animal Farm “ by George Orwell. I like this title because the animals ruled the farm and seemed to get freedom but a ruler which is a pig appeared and expelled human then it became an animal’s farm. At the first I thought it is very friendly and kind of easy but when I read it all the way through it has deep meaning and I thought this was the best title for this book.
ReplyDeleteThe second title I like is “Because of Winn-dixie”. I like this title because every incidents in this story happens because of Winn-dixie just like the title. This is a story about a lonely girl who has just moved to a town but after she meets a dog named Winn-dixie. she got many friends and get back the relationship between the girl and her father.
My favorite phrase I like is “ inspire the next ”. This is a phrase I saw in the magazine. I like this phrase because these words are powerful and it is a very positive phrase. This phrase is just looking at the future and I can feel they want to develop more.
I think this blog’s title could be ”I’m Lovin’ Lit”.
Titles of a book or song or anything else that needs one can really draw you in. Therefore, it is important to have a good title. My very favorite titles is a book called "Theater Geek; The Real Life Drama of a Summer at Stagedoor" by Mickey Rapkin. Right off the bat I had a connection with it because it's basically a definition of me; theater geek. Also, the book is written about my home, Stagedoor Manor, a little theater camp in the Katskill Mountains (and I'm on the cover of the paperback edition so I guess that helps). I swear I've read every book out there with the word "Stagedoor" in the title. Another book title I think is great is "The Girl who Played with Fire" by Steig Larsson. What an interesting title. Just from the title, you get that the girl in the book is a rebel and doesn't follow the rules; obviously your'e not supposed to play with fire. It sounds like such an intriguing book, and then you learn it's not even the first in the series, which intrigues you to learn more about this rebel girl. Another great title is "Looking for Alaska" by John Green. Besides the point that I've read it seven times, the first time I picked it up I thought that it was talking about the state Alaska. But who would need to look for Alaska? Just get a map? It interested me to learn more about why someone needed to look for the state Alaska. I read it because of that and now it is my favorite book in the world! (turns out Alaska is a name? Weird parents I guess?)
ReplyDeleteAs for the name of the blog, maybe "Lit. World Unfurled" ( I'm bad at this)
My favorite titles are taken, hangover, and hunger games. Taken is because I think it relates well with the movie and how it was just a normal life with his daughter than she just got taken. Hangover is because it explains exactly what happened in the movie it was just that and it's bias because it's my favorite movie. hunger games is my favorite of all titles. I like it because it's like a game that you have to. play for your life for survival and you have to be want it and I think hunger explains that. I think the blog spot title should be "Gahans Bloggers"
ReplyDeleteTitles are one of the most important things that the author must decide before writing a book. The title is what should jump start your interest, and make you want to buy the book. My #1 favorite title is a song by Kid Cudi called the prayer. The songs chorus has the well known beginning of a prayer "If I die before I wake I pray the Lord my soul to take. The rest of the song is a prayer through Kid Cudi's eyes which is pretty interesting. Another favorite title is a song by Tyler The Creator called "Yonkers" this song is very odd and the words are sometimes strange with a loud beat making the listener pumped up or in other words yonkers. My third favorite title is You Are Not a Robot by Hoodie Allen. In my eyes it is a very interesting title that makes me want to listen right away. For a blog name i suggest: This Blog is the Lit
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite titles is "The New York Rangers" because it reminds of my father, grandfather, and just how amazing the team actually is. My second title that i like is "Lord of the Flies". This title is ironic because boys are fighting and killing each other to rule a pointless deserted island. The third title is "Megashark vs. Giant Octopus" because who doesn't like to see giant killer animals fight one another. Finally for my blog title i think it should be Gahan's lit is legit.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite book titles is "Percy Jackson and the Lighting Theif." I say this because the title tells what happens in the book, which was that Percy Jackson was excused of taking Zeus Lighting bolt. My second favorite book title is Point Blanc. This is a good title because the title is something major in this book, which is the school that the main character has to go to under cover
ReplyDeleteMy third favorite book title is the Hunger Games. This is one of my favorite books title because it explains the theme of the book, which is the survival of the fittest. I think the blog title should be Gahan squad.
DeleteMy first favorite title is Colder Weather, which is a song by the Zac Brown Band, and I just love the song and the title is perfect for it. My other favorite title is The Hunger Games because although it's what the entire book is about, it also kinda sets the tone is a very dramatic title. My last favorite title is Whiskey Lullaby because I absolutely love that song, and the title is perfect for the song. I think we should name our group the Gahan Squad.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite titles is Sourcefed. Sourcefed is an online news website and I like the title because it is a cool and it is informative about the website. My second favorite title is one of my books from my summer reading list, The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy. I like the title because it sounds kind of strange and confusing, but it sums up the book very well. And my third favorite title is Die Hard. I like the title because it is both a cool movie, and the title does not give away to much but it is still intriguing. I think the title for the blog should be Gahan's World Lit Survival Guide.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite title is The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I like this title because it's interesting and makes you wonder about the book. My second favorite title is Looking for Alaska because you wonder what they're looking for. My third favorite title is It's Kind of a Funny Story because it's kind of a sad book, so it's ironic and I like that. I think that our blog names should be the Great Gahans.
ReplyDeleteI am an extreme bookworm and i love to watch movies, so choosing my fa vorite titles was kind of hard. my first favorite title is "Looking for Alaska". I thought of this title because it had such a deeper meaning to the story and I can actually understand why it is titled like that. My second favorite title was The Pursuit of Happyness movie with Will Smith. I do not know why, but I think it is one of the best titles for a movie. also it is one of my favorite movies. my third favorite title is The Kite Runner. It is one of my favorite books and one of the ones that I think of first if you ask me of good books.
ReplyDeleteI thought of "World Lit: Traveling by Pages, not Miles" as a title for the blog.
My favorite title of all tempoe is probably the book "Alice in Wonderland," because perhaps this book has been a great influence in my life because whenever I introduce someone always asks "Alice? The parents of the wonders?" Another title that probably will never forget is "The boy in the striped pajamas". I must admit that I never read the book but watched the movie, and I think this book could not have a better title, because it is not something obvious, but it makes sense to dispute the book / movie.
ReplyDeleteIf I were choosing a name for your blog, I think it would be "World Literature News!"
